Convento São Francisco de Mértola
Work & Exhibition Spaces
The chapel of the Convento is converted into an exhibition space. The Convento has approx 300 m2 of indoor space available for producing and exhibiting contemporary art. Additionally, the grounds of the Convento can be used to produce and exhibit work. The grounds of the Convento (40 hectares) include: the biological gardens, woodlands, river, sculpture garden, bird sanctuary and Water Museum.
Artists who work and exhibit at the Convento are emerging and established artists, national and international, who present innovative and unconventional ideas.
Our goal is to support artists by giving them time and space to work on a specific project or develop a new body of work. We offer most of the Convento spaces and its grounds to be used in new creations.
